About

Zonta has a long history of helping to prevent the egregious practice of abusing women and girls, providing millions of dollars annually to international projects in disaster-affected coastal areas of Sri Lanka and war-torn Afghanistan; in sub-Saharan Africa where poverty and HIV are diminishing female population; and in Central and South America- countries such as Bolivia where over 50% of rural women are illiterate and as a consequence abused and violated.

The local chapter’s mission is to increase awareness of the issue of domestic violence and human trafficking in the Greater Charleston Area.
